Say and Do

We also believe that Aristotle had it right when he wrote: “we are what we repeatedly do.” We definitely are NOT what we think we would do: for us, it’s the action that counts, not the intention, and so one of our most basic beliefs is that one’s focus during the personal leadership journey needs to live at the behavioral level, that what we say (what others hear) and do (what others see) defines our leadership to others.

Terry Fox’s commitment to letting his behaviors model the way for others is second to none. His ‘say and do’ legacy is so strong that he continues to raise significant money ($800 million!) for cancer research almost four decades since his passing.

He is the author of a wonderful 26-minute film on Terry Fox, entitled The Power of Purpose (Trans-Form Corporation), potentially useful for personal and corporate development.

On the journey to your brighter personal future, we urge you to behave your way there. Every time you ‘say and do’ the new you, you are anchoring those behaviours to the personal values that drive your character. According to Shirzad Chamine, author of Positive Intelligence, engaging in one brief, positive exercise every day for as little as 3 weeks can rewire your brain.
